ANIMAL CONTROL

Brandon, Mississippi

Animal Control

The Brandon Police Department’s Animal Control officers enforce the City of Brandon’s animal-related code ordinances. Animal Control’s enforcement duties primarily focus on animal nuisance complaints, neglect and cruelty cases, vicious or feral animals, and domesticated animals running at large.

Housing Animals

Our Animal Control officers work in partnership with the Rankin County Animal Shelter for housing; Brandon Animal Control officers do not hold any animals in their custody.

Lost Animal?

If you are looking for your lost animal, please contact the Animal Shelter directly.

Wish to Adopt?

If you wish to adopt an animal, contact the Rankin County Animal Shelter, Mississippi Animal Rescue League (MARL), or another local animal rescue group or shelter.

Deceased Animals?

Animal Control does not remove deceased animals from private property. Deceased animals on public streets will be removed by city workers; contact Brandon Police Department dispatch at 601-825-7225 to report a deceased animal along the roadway.

Indigenous Wild Animals?

Our Animal Control officers do not have the legal authority to interfere with indigenous wild animals. For issues with raccoons, opossums, deer, or other forms of wildlife, contact the MS Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks here.
